Early Wednesday morning AJ called me up and it was because of him I learned about the Blackout day. So I thought lets jot down happening of such an event on my blog and also make people conversant about the things that happened Once upon a Time!! ;)

On Wednesday – The January 18, 2012 it was “The Wikipedia blackout Day” If at all anybody observed, the backlash was against two bills aimed at stopping online piracy. Which two Bills was the protest against?!

SOPA and PIPA – SOPA stands for “Stop Online Piracy Act” and PIPA stands for “Protect Intellectual Property Act”. Around 7000 websites including Google and many other smaller websites supported the protest as quoted by one of the article .

The bill is the product of years of lobbying by music labels and film studios, which are infuriated that so much pirated content is still available online through various search engines and websites.

If at all these two bills are passed it would largely affect not only Wikipedia but many other websites including the social networking websites like Facebook Twitter etc.

Its not like we would Die without internet! I mean this isn’t funny! A Day without internet doesn’t only mean “A day without Facebook or Twitter”. Shutting down websites just for the sake of stopping online piracy of Hollywood movies and vdo’s etc is not at all logical. They are acting as if they haven’t used these portals and websites to publicize and promote there Products amongst the individual’s nation wide. They have right?! They have used Facebook , Twitter, Google , Youtube for publicity!? Haven’t they earned enough?!

I Google stuffs I don’t understand! It’s feasible that way to read about things that you don’t know much about. We all use Youtube , I mean its simple to look at the demonstration and do stuffs like – Learning how to wear a Tie , Learning Yoga , Dancing etc– I have done that. End numbers of things have been made easier because of these websites. I read in one of the news article that a person quoted that "The right to free speech is one of the most basic foundations that makes our nation great and I strongly oppose sanctioning Americans' right to free speech in any medium," – Fair enough, Isn’t it!!

I am very much against SOPA and PIPA!
